I realised I never added a little photo dump to sync up with when we fitted the Tommy Kaira kit to the K11; the Calsonic was past the point of no return, so I decided to go all in with this little one I had picked up during the pandemic. We had already fitted a 1.3, becoming the new base for fitting the parts. After searching for years, I picked this kit up in Japan on Yahoo auctions, but I want to delve into a story on that very soon on the channel. For now, enjoy this manic rush to get this thing up to an acceptable standard for LZ fest last year.
We attempt to build the wildest K11 March/Micra possible, tracking down a Tommy Kaira kit in Japan and matching the colour.
We go all in on the K11 build and try to build the wildest one possible
Here are a few photographs of the New K11 March before it went under the knife. Some are from when I picked it up and threw some Drag wheels on it, which came on the black March, an excellent eighties wheel that showed up locally. Then, when we slammed it on the BC coilovers with the Enkei wheels, these wheels are called Enkei Formula J M18’s and were used on open-wheel race cars in the early nineties. Whats also really cool is that most of the March Cup cars also ran these in the ’90s. It’s a wheel I’ve been chasing for many years, as 13 inches is the magic formula for these cars. The Enkeis are just right. The little lip is fantastic. What’s funny is I always end up almost loving this look just as much as the finished product; these cars look great with very little, and even though we did the Tommy Kaira look, this appeals to me just as much.
We modify the little Nissan K11 March/Micra and unlock the car’s potential fun.
I am playing catchup on the blog side of things, but since going full-time, I’ve had the time now to try to get all these out; the dream would be to release the content right after the video so it pairs nicely; that is my plan in the future so we will see how that goes.
Anyway, this car is everything I love about the car community; someone took a mundane little nugget because they loved it, threw some incredible, rare parts on it and a really iconic liver and made it into such an exceptional little vehicle—pure creativity.
I’ll let the photos speak for themself here. The car has such a great character, and I love seeking stuff out like this. Ive thrown in a few collaboration images and the night we took the engine out of my little nugget as a bonus. Enjoy the images set.
Check out this really epic K11 Micra, a HKS-inspired Nismo-kitted nugget.
I never thought the day would come. I have a weird problem. I’ve always had it, but I’m not one to sell stuff. I’ve kept most things I held in high regard over my life, from bicycles to model cars, cameras to weird hats. Then, when it moved onto car stuff, it was the same, except it was a lot harder to hang onto things or try to preserve property that’s this size; unfortunately, the k11 sat outside the shed for a couple of years after having a pretty well driven three years previous, I did everything in this car, travel Ireland, commute to work, go on dates all the usual nonsense you do with a car except this thing had grown on me. Before we figured out there was an actual colonic march, I wanted to do this livery; I just thought it would be hilarious to take one of the most iconic liveries and throw it on the most mundane Nissan. We uncover heavy rust on the Calsonic K11 March, leaving it at the point of diminishing returns.
A little shoot we did at 5 am with Enda’s Micra just after he made an insane journey to drop off an engine to shed in the height of winter. He hated that I was throwing him into a video because his car was a mess, but I was keen to shoot this for a long time, and I felt the dirt didn’t detract from the car’s overall presence.
The coolest K11 Micra answers the call of duty for a special late-night delivery.
We invite some of the best JDM cars, rarely seen on Irish roads, to our annual BBQ.
Although I love Watanabes, I never felt like they suited this car as much as the other wheels. Maybe a combination of tyre profile and the wrong colour for the wheels themselves, id was a little too plain for the look.
We hit the racetrack in the K11 daily driver March and go for another run in the Civic. The guys at Trackdays.ie were nice enough to invite us to another day out so we couldn’t resist. Barry calls down to finish Adrians Carina and we sort some coils for the 4A-GE.
Let’s kick things off again with part two of last years BBQ. Like I said in the previous post, we cram as many images as we can into these articles, mainly because the quality of cars that attend the BBQ is truly incredible. We want to show as much of what made it to the event as we can. It’s always a reminder of the thriving Irish car scene.
