A New K11 March to destroy

Here are a few photographs of the New K11 March before it went under the knife. Some are from when I picked it up and threw some Drag wheels on it, which came on the black March, an excellent eighties wheel that showed up locally. Then, when we slammed it on the BC coilovers with the Enkei wheels, these wheels are called Enkei Formula J M18’s and were used on open-wheel race cars in the early nineties. Whats also really cool is that most of the March Cup cars also ran these in the ’90s. It’s a wheel I’ve been chasing for many years, as 13 inches is the magic formula for these cars. The Enkeis are just right. The little lip is fantastic. What’s funny is I always end up almost loving this look just as much as the finished product; these cars look great with very little, and even though we did the Tommy Kaira look, this appeals to me just as much.

Big News: Taking Juicebox Full-Time!

My AE86 Journey Leads to trying Full-Time YouTube!

Old 86 Parts, New life

I never really appreciated the effort that went into blocking with a paint job because I had picked the best colour for body panels. Jackie was adamant that he wanted this car to be perfectly straight; I even started to lose track of the process, with the Trueno being blocked, spray-filled and then blocked again. Throughout the process, Jackie remained consistent with enthusiasm and attention to detail; most of the time, standing back and admiring his commitment, even after a full day of misery at work, was incredible. It’s been inspiring, and I’ve aimed to keep that mindset in my life as we advance. He wants to do the best he can all the time regarding his craft.

Here are the photos leading up to painting the car. We tried to get the best finish possible because, as I’ve learned, it’s all in the prep.

Sim Rig Delivery

Getting gifted a sim rig was such a surreal experience. We use it heavily in the shed at least once daily as we walk past to avoid a task altogether. Honestly, I can’t thank Laurence enough for giving this to us. It’s given us something cool to do when we get fed up with the real thing.

It’s ridiculous that he delivered this in his S13; we are forever in his debt for sorting us out with this. What a lovely moment this was!

Ireland’s Forgotten JDM Boom: Where Thousands of Japanese Legends Went to Die

This is the story of Ireland’s Forgotten JDM Car Boom. We take a deep dive into why so many Japanese legends ended up in Ireland and what happened to them.

The Nightride Adventure

Here is a little photo dump from our Nightride trip in December. This was a random mission, but it was such a blast. Seeing the Nightride set up and hanging out with the guys for a few days was incredible. It was nice to see a different perspective on things. The journey was a mission and a half, and the Essen Motor Show was a little treat. I made new friends out of this and memories that will last forever. I can’t wait to return to Poland. Im sure you have all seen the video, so I’ll let this little photo dump do the rest.

A Flashback to AE86 Fest

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to make it to last year’s AE86 festival. A close friend was getting married, and there was no way out. Instead, our friend Adam Osborne was there to capture the day with Flip and Josh on the video camera. I wish I could’ve been, as it’s probably one of the best days out, and that’s not being biased toward my favourite chassis; it’s just a decent day filled with a very high percentage of good machines. I’ll let Adams Photo Gallery do much of the talking here, as there are plenty of really nice photos for the eyes. We are fortunate to have such a vibrant AE86 scene here in Ireland.

My AE86 is all one colour

For some reason, I didn’t take as many photos of the car in this state as expected. I was mainly shocked to see it look like this after so many years of looking the same. It felt like it wasn’t mine; the only indication was the dented eyelid covers with the original paint. I had waited years to see the car in this silhouette, and when it finally happened, it was like I wasn’t ready for it.

Jackie bolted all the panels on because he reckoned it the safest place for them; you can see the 1/4 looking a little crumpled in this picture, but looking past this, the beautiful silhouette of the car was finally revealed, the arches the simplistic look of the car, finally things were starting to take shape. I took the same photo four or five times from each angle, but I didn’t have much to say that night; I just stood back to admire one of my all-time favourite shapes. I love the trueno version of the hatch as I feel that’s the best balance for these cars. Don’t get me wrong, I love a Levin hatch, but something about that Trueno hatch does it for me.

Purchasing Irelands Cheapest 4×4

It would appear that im a sucker for a bargain; somehow, Ills see past all the imperfections and think of the potential fun that can be had with something. I’ve done it with the 86, and I’ve done it with other cars over the years and items that I’ve wanted; when the opportunity presents itself, I’ll end up buying the item and justifying why I’ve needed it for years and time again to make myself feel better. I always had a thing for Jimny, at least for the last ten years. My friend Dave has always talked about his one and how it’s probably one of the most capable 4x4s out there. He’s also the guy who invited me that the Prus behind this Jimny is an excellent car, and he wasn’t wrong; I bought that from Dave at the start of Covid on a whim for work, and it turned out to be the best purchase ever.

Misery and Joy at LZ Fest

LZ Fest last year was a real eye-opener; we live in a bubble at the shed and rarely make it our thing to go to car events. The Drift games lads had organised LZ fest; it was the first time we had seen such a crowd. It shows how times have changed, and social media characters bring more of an experience than the usual drivers and professional car people.

Our weekend started with a bit of proper misery, with Josh blowing his gearbox at 5.40 in the morning after spending all his time getting the car ready for the event. Either way, LZ Fest was a real eye-opener; it made us realise what sort of following Juicebox has, putting faces to YouTube views and comments.

Peeling Away 32 Years Of AE86 Paint

Here are a few overdue photos from the first few days we took the 86 up to its new home, where the car still lives, as we begin to wrap up the paint process. This was a scenario I had anticipated since the start of the build, and honestly, I almost felt like this moment would never come. The car had a few lull periods, and I was worried it would never pull out of it. It sat as a bare shell for a little too long, and then we had a string of events that set things back. Thankfully, things came together at the start of 2022, and the progress car ramped up. It finally felt like we were on the home stretch.

A Feast for the Senses: Celebrating Ireland’s Finest at the Juicebox BBQ

Welcome to the Juicebox BBQ – an annual event that celebrates the best of the Irish car scene. Here is a photoset from the 2021 BBQ, which was a little damp but didn’t stop people from making an effort. It’s incredible to see the kind of machines tucked away in this country. You don’t often see them on the roads, but you experience a complete sensory overload at this event. For those of you who have been curious about the Juicebox BBQ, it’s an invite-only event. We get together with our friends to celebrate all things automotive and appreciate the cars we’ve either created or taken care of over the years. Unfortunately, we can’t make this a public event due to space and resource limitations. However, we’ve put together a gallery of some of the great cars that appeared at this event to appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into these machines.

We post almost everything that came to the BBQ on our website so everyone can get a taste of our vibrant, high-quality lesser-seen car scene Ireland offers. It’s an honour to know such fascinating people from all walks of life who share a passion for cars. The Juicebox BBQ celebrates the friendships we’ve created over the years and the incredible machinery that bring us together. We hope you enjoy this gallery and get a glimpse into the fantastic automotive community that we’re lucky to be a part of.
