This years Sleek Fx brought some new cars to display. Some good and some that would leave you scratching your head for days. The weather was that typical “is it going to rain? “weather. So all day we were waiting for it to pour but it managed to hold and everyone could enjoy being dry whilst checking out some drag racing and the cars.
Stole this from garagehachi’s blog, too good not to post. That KE70 wagon is fucking so good!
Just got to take some snaps today of Enda’s eg9 ferio, alot of work has gone into this car and there will definitely be alot more to come on this car real soon. These are becoming a scarce enough car and its nice to see someone with much love for one.
The yellow and black colourway throughout the car is a real winner, its different which is hard to come by on these cars. The rota auto x fit the car so good. The only bad side was the weather which was really against us on this one so expect more to come soon on this car . Good job on the ferio man, there such a nice car.
Another round of Prodrift, and another Irish car show where mother nature was good to us. I have to give a big shout to Simon Connaughton for hooking me up with images of the final 16. We ended up getting in a crash the night before Prodrift and decided to be cool and stay up buzzing from what happened and drove to Dublin. What a bad choice, as soon as the ” adrenaline” and monster (thank fuck for that but only sometimes because you will piss green) we collapsed and the stiffness settled in. All good fun.. Sort of.
There was a shit load going on off track at Punchestown. I got a little snap happy with some of the stuff which was off track so I decided to divide the track action and paddock stuff into two separate sections. I was truly suprised at the level some of the cars are at in Ireland after Punchestown. There was a really good selection of Japanese goodness in the Paddock and a few other things.
These days in Ireland Altezzas are as common as piss. There are so many around that have the same look. Not a lot of people have ventured into trying to do something different.
Its funny how everything is traveling in circles. The American car scene is trying to source every last JDM part they can including front end conversions to gear knobs. They seem to have created something which was based on the whole JDM scene and now the Japanese have decided to start copying the US. Its amazing that both of these countries are both doing the same thing more or less. The Japanese are starting to rust bonnets, buy diamond steelies and go for the whole roof rack theme. Its cool either way as more and more cool cars are coming out of both countries. Check this USDM jam that went down in Japan from stanceworks. Check the website for more snaps also.
Everyday for at least two years I walked past this shining pearl. It lived right around the corner from me. Over the years around where I live there has been some really good cars. The first jzx100 I ever laid eyes on lived across from the local shop. A metallic navy sileighty on Te37s slammed, right on the way to college. These were some serious cars hiding amongst the normal streets. These were times before anyone was really even importing cars from the rising sun. One day when I was coming home this shiny new Silvia appeared. I thought it was here for a visit but then each day it was there in the same place when I was coming home. The Silvia would lurk in between Ibiza’s, Cordoba’s, Polo’s, Daewoo’s, the usual suburban family wagons parked one after another from one end of the street to the next.
Oni ( 鬼 ) is the Japanese word for demon or ogre. When it comes to cars, it’s about running the absolute craziest amount of camber possible and in the pursuit of going over the top,
This has become quite popular these last few weeks when we were building the site. If you havent seen this already you have now hahaha.
Check it out at http://www.7tune.com/oni-camber/
Its been a while since I had been to a Prodrift event. I kind of never got around to getting to one and with the new site its given me a chance to start going to them and covering them. In Ireland there seems to be a massive division between people who are into drifting and drag racing and whatever, in my opinion Im glad to go any event that has a tasty looking four wheel or two wheel vehicle doing something worthwhile to watch or look at. I didn’t really know what to expect with Prodrift but to be honest it was pretty damn good. We ended up coming in late and the event had already gone underway as we were too cool in the car park taking pictures of Wolfrace katanas but we will talk more about that next week. I was taking pictures from the sideline a little intimidated by the actual size and numbers of people who are going to these events now. Drifting and the entire Japanese car scene, well the Irish car scene as a whole for that matter is still growing. Even though the super duper recession has come to play and ruin the fun for everyone, I was surprised to see how many people are still splashing out and are down for the scene. Good stuff. In fairness the drift competitions have come along way from the days of rosegreen where every have a go hero was on the track in sierras and omegas(which was cool) but this is a lot more structured. Its pretty impressive.
You have to love the Japanese and the over the top adverts they make with the worst songs ever. Its such an amazing mix that makes them a country that the whole world looks at with awe. They have mad so many commercials that we have never seen and while we are bored to death with ads about fiat puntos and Renault va va voom fuck off ads, They had adverts about 4 dour skylines drifting and hilarious American actors with over the top Music from the west which makes the best ad to watch in between anything. Ive got together some of the best that we’ve come across and stuck em here for entertainment. You may have seen them you may not, either way take a look again at how your car was being advertised in the land of the rising sun.
This is one of my favourite cars, in a video with one of the best songs ever. Electric Relaxation by A Tribe Called quest. Thanks Teejay
We are going to try and cover everything that’s going on in Ireland on the site. If its a competition like Pro drift that some people may hate or a Honda meet that others might not enjoy, were going to try and cater for everything because why not? If its a decent car or something interesting it deserves some credit. A thing we are going to start on Juicebox is car park check, we are going to go to events and go and scower the car park to see whats going on in Ireland, usually there are a few gems lurking in the car park and a few not so gems, Today were going to start this with the Fermoy car park at Prodrift round 1. Some pictures from the event will be coming tomorrow. I know this is a little late but the site was being built when we went to cover it. We have coverage from a few events which went on while the site was under construction so bear with us as we try top get up to speed over the next week. The forum should also be up soon which will be cool. Check it out and stay tuned for more.
Just came across this for a cool little story, a clean JDM imported ep82. Its more than likely the only on in the US which is kind of funny as they are as common as fuck in our country. There has been so much of a buzz over this car as it has gone up for sale in florida.
It has to be the only modern starlet at least after 83 driving around florida or maybe the US for that matter and it seems to be in very good condition.
The inside looks very tidy indeed. The owner is looking for 10000+ for the car. The compomotive wheels wouldn’t be the best choice in my opinion but the car itself seems very well looked after.
You would have to wonder what this car would be like now if this had been released on the us market. What kind of slammed versions of this would be all over the web, sites like Honda tech and JDM conversions, oem parts and extras from toms and trd.People obsessing and using them for drag racing. I have a feeling they would have been just as big as the whole eg/ek scene. Interesting find I guess.
