Juicebox BBQ: The Squeeze PT2

jcbxbbq-25

A lot of people made it down regardless of situations that sprang up which either on the day or close to it.  Somehow the weather was on our sides which enticed people to make the journey down. I genuinely would not have held the event if there was a monsoon of Irish rain.

Where to begin really? This whole thing started as an idea few weeks back, well a concrete idea that is. This plan literally fell into place in less than ten days.

In The Shadows

zeroseven180sx3

What makes a great RPs13? The 180sx has been around for over a quarter of a century, a car that is loved by so many it is essentially a mascot of the drifting world and we still just cant get enough of these things.

A Dubshed Stroll 2016

Dubshed 2016

Photo-1---Cover-Photo

Dubshed 2016 where do I start, let’s start on Sunday morning at 7 o’clock. Waking up to the rain pouring from the sky, it’s definitely not how I wanted the day to start but living here in Ireland I think seeing rain on the day of a car show has become the norm.

Stories: Lurking Vancouver

vncvr47

So its been enjoyable recapping when I get the chance, putting together these side stories on where I have been at since I departed Ireland over two years ago. For many longtime readers of the ramblings on here, you are aware that one part of Juicebox (Neil) is living in Canada and sort of taking a break from things. In the last one of these posts I was living in Edmonton, so about this time last year I made my way over to Vancouver, I couldn’t hack the snow. I decided to take the train back across Canada, something I would highly recommend to anyone, the scenery is almost too much to process.

Hidden Treasures : Kazama Auto 180sx Demo Car

Another absolute beauty of a car, tucked away alongside the Cruise AE111 we featured last week is this Kazama Auto RPS13. I love these stories, this car has been in hiding for quite some time, bought in the boom for over fifteen grand and then hidden away as the owner was forced to head to the upside down land of work outside of our failing country. This car is pretty amazing in the flesh, and in the right hands, an immaculate white time capsule of Japanese built goodness, unmolested by the usual unaware Irish man.

Plastic Surgery

You just can’t get enough of a good looking 180sx. I don’t care what anyone says but when there is a perfectly styled example in front of your eyes it brings the same amount of excitement as anything else. Over the years Ireland has robbed its fair share of these from Japan, many have been drifted, and others have been butchered, others have been stored away and others have been done like this. The ones which have been styled this good are always a treat.

Affection, metal and age.

A Couple of months ago leaving a car park I snapped this simple clean timeless RPs13 directly in front of a Mazda 323, both cars from the same era and similar manufacturers. Its always amusing how some cars are so well designed, live on as classics and are more popular than the day they rolled out of the factory. This picture will always stay with me just because the 323 will never have the presence of the 180, and was growing moss in the corner, whilst this 180 will possibly stay this good for a few years to come.

Now we all know that Mazda has made some amazing cars but you cant help but get a kick out out of the A to B cars which come and go from companies, stick around for a period and tehn completely vanish, then we have the cars which may have had the same faith but gain a cult following. Its fascinating how the brain can get excited and affectionate over a chunk of metal which has been crafted and pressed into different shapes and completely disregard another….

Dark Moist Missions..

There is always something so exciting about street activity in cars… waiting for that right moment to make your move…

Random Juice: The Dying breed

A tasty looking drift slag!

Event: Juicebox BBQ: The Squeeze 2011

So we decided to get a bunch of friends together and have a Juicebox BBQ, a sort of thank you to everyone who has been down for the website and what we are doing over the last year or so. Things have been growing strongly with the site and its scary to think of just many people are down with the Box. The weather was on our side in what has to have been the worst summer in a very long time but we managed to get a good cross section of cars which that pretty much represented what the website is all about. As someone stated in the comments from the heatwave coverage, here at Juicebox were all about Photoshopped wheels on second hand cars from a dealership. Take a look and you will see what we mean.

Random Juice: The Arthur Exchange

Its hard I know but whats not to Enjoy this about this lady in rouge. Parked all alone but sitting right on an unusually awesome set of Rays Aurthur Exchange LK VIP wheels.

Event: Mondello Drift Day

So since there is a nice gap in between the next Prodrift event, Mondello had another track day for drift practice, owners could pay 140 euros to drive on the track all day in pretty much whatever they choose. These days are just as if not more interesting then some of the professional events down to the fact that the track is a mix of Decent and learner driver’s so things can be very unpredictable. Most cars come home with at least one love tap or maybe two…

Prodrift Round 2 2011: Fermoy PT1

This year the weather was looking super dodgy, we didn’t get a chance to make it down on Saturday but on Sunday morning as we hit the road it was already looking to be a shit day. Somehow the rain staid in the clouds and it turned out to be another awesome day in Cork. The Drift Ireland guys basically had the entire “show and shine” type of area from last year to themselves apart from one accord. Nickys Trueno is out of this world sexy and was hidden in between Pete’s GS pimp wagon and that beautiful 180 we should do a feature on.
