There was a shit load going on off track at Punchestown. I got a little snap happy with some of the stuff which was off track so I decided to divide the track action and paddock stuff into two separate sections. I was truly suprised at the level some of the cars are at in Ireland after Punchestown. There was a really good selection of Japanese goodness in the Paddock and a few other things.
Its that time again. Sorry for the delay on actual updates. Ive been taking full advantage of the nice weather and doing some other stuff for the site also. Its always interesting to see what people are driving these days, that’s why we do this part of the site. Some stuff can be very cool while other vehicles are the opposite. Lets check it out.
So I got a call about this Legal drag strip type thing that was going down in Tullow just outside of Carlow. I was instantly curious to see what exactly or how this could work. We jumped in the van and Magoo and Ann drove ahead in the Primera. It was some laugh finding the place but eventually we rang the guys from Caseys Yard and they came down in the trusty ex Eircom Transit at top speed and they lead the way. I was still wondering how on earth you could have a drag strip around the country side. We were on back roads laughing and wondering if the roads would just be closed off or what. Eventually I gave up guessing of ways in which they could have a drag track in the middle of nowhere and decided to wait till we got a look. As we were tearing along a nice country road the road suddenly turned into wide open concrete. It was crazy, no fences on the fields and a couple of houses at the start. Then the road opened into a massive field with this little concrete road in between. We then came to a digger which was blocking the road. Everything felt very mad max about the situation but it was cool. They were looking for a fiver to go up and check it out so I was down for supporting. The digger bucket lifted which was basically there as a gate and we headed on up to the sheds in the distance. It really looked like something from the America. I’m easily amused I guess.
There was some nice cars outside but it started to pour out so I didn’t get to take photos of everything. After being so amazed by the show I decided to go outside and get some snaps. Straight away there was some promising stuff. This ek was looking pretty damn cool. Nothing too insane and it was already killing it in terms of how it looked over some of the warrior wagons inside.
Where do I start. I guess the show is cool for the type of people who just enjoy looking at whatever kind of car or want something to do on a day off. The poster is slightly misleading to be honest for someone who would have expected more. I expected at least the skyline would be there with its bonnet off boasting that rb buf noop, nothing of the sort, nowhere to be seen. How fooled were we aye? The show had a lot of potential bu like many things in Ireland but It fell short of what we expected in quite a lot of ways. With the site were going to try and cover as much as we can in the car scene, some may be good, some may be bad. This one is sort of bad.
Its been a while since I had been to a Prodrift event. I kind of never got around to getting to one and with the new site its given me a chance to start going to them and covering them. In Ireland there seems to be a massive division between people who are into drifting and drag racing and whatever, in my opinion Im glad to go any event that has a tasty looking four wheel or two wheel vehicle doing something worthwhile to watch or look at. I didn’t really know what to expect with Prodrift but to be honest it was pretty damn good. We ended up coming in late and the event had already gone underway as we were too cool in the car park taking pictures of Wolfrace katanas but we will talk more about that next week. I was taking pictures from the sideline a little intimidated by the actual size and numbers of people who are going to these events now. Drifting and the entire Japanese car scene, well the Irish car scene as a whole for that matter is still growing. Even though the super duper recession has come to play and ruin the fun for everyone, I was surprised to see how many people are still splashing out and are down for the scene. Good stuff. In fairness the drift competitions have come along way from the days of rosegreen where every have a go hero was on the track in sierras and omegas(which was cool) but this is a lot more structured. Its pretty impressive.
We are going to try and cover everything that’s going on in Ireland on the site. If its a competition like Pro drift that some people may hate or a Honda meet that others might not enjoy, were going to try and cater for everything because why not? If its a decent car or something interesting it deserves some credit. A thing we are going to start on Juicebox is car park check, we are going to go to events and go and scower the car park to see whats going on in Ireland, usually there are a few gems lurking in the car park and a few not so gems, Today were going to start this with the Fermoy car park at Prodrift round 1. Some pictures from the event will be coming tomorrow. I know this is a little late but the site was being built when we went to cover it. We have coverage from a few events which went on while the site was under construction so bear with us as we try top get up to speed over the next week. The forum should also be up soon which will be cool. Check it out and stay tuned for more.
So I had been following Magoo’s Turbo Dc2 build to where it would be finally tested, at Straightliners in Enniskillen. I decided to give a hand the day before which ended up being an all nighter as we tried to get the car back together before it was trailered and brought up north. There was mapping going on right up till the car was loaded up. This is how strapped for time everyone was as the deadline crept up so quick.
Its shit even in the title when i wrote 2010 it makes it sound so serious, i tried to write 10 but that just looks stupid and 010 doesn’t look so good either. Ah well. This year wt up to Mondello again for another track day. A change from some of the not so exciting parades around the country. Maybe it was just me but there was less cars there compared to last year. I guess this whole recession shit has really had a toll or maybe it was just paddys day and more people wanted to drink this year. I had a camera and also a video camera with me so i started filming the day and made an oul video from it.
Haha, Duggie and his magical trueno and the magical boring new bypass from Dublin to ford and Dayos magical photography skills from the back.

Dave did the trip also in his Hachi. Its looking good as always.
This mini was just fucking epic to be honest, cruising around the track at 30-40 with rx7s flying past and evos. It was so good.
Mountains in the background with snow makes this almost look not like Ireland haha.
This ae92 was looking good. Looked very jap and was loud as fuck. There was a little bit of batteling between the Daves ae86 and this 92 that we got to see from the tower balcony area, it was a good time to watch that. There is small bits in the video below.
Nice looking caged ferio
This rx-7 was flat out all day.
Battle of the civic generations?? haha
We then used this key to get this picture below.
Just having a joke… Check the video now so you can feel like you were there also with this space age technology called youtube.
The rain was pretty fucking heavy on the day which was a shame. The only real thing i can remember from it was magoo trying out for the photographers and posing pretty smooth. haha
Good shit.

This is the dodgiest quarter-mile ever. The inside of a horse racing track. Here are some times filmed on the day. Just a few before I got bored.
