A Night Drive With Friends
This stuff doesn’t happen enough anymore, not with my generation of friends. Back in 2010 ish, this was an every weekend occupancy; we were surrounded by the best of cars, which we 100% took for granted at the time. We were all parked up with the best chassis, and the country was flooded with high-quality imports; it wasn’t uncommon to see a sight like this in every town up and down Ireland. Unfortunately, the recession came, and so did the end of days like this; cars were broken for parts, most people emigrated, and whatever was left was locked away in sheds.
I know a whole younger generation can’t afford this stuff and make it down with what they have, but a considerable portion of lads my age still love this stuff but can’t get out due to being older, having a family life and all other sorts. I wanted to make it my mission last year to try to get a few of these drives going for people we know who still have excellent cars, like the BBQ on the move for friends. We do a lap of the city, parking in various spots, the funny thing is the chats and the spinning from place to place is the best part. Having the cars was just a bonus. There was a rush in tearing along, going from one location to the nest as we did many moons ago. I was to try to continue this next year if possible; not everyone can make it to all of these, but Im going to make it my mission to ensure these happen because it’s too much fun. The cars need to be used more; this is what it’s all about. I’ll leave you with the few photos I took on the night as I mostly tried to live in the moment.
