AE86 Brake Bleed Misery Machine
So after a massive chunk of progress, we were onto the brakes. I thought this would be smooth sailing after fitting the engine box and other chunky bits. It turns out this would be one of the most temperamental parts of the build. The bias valve to the rear was faulty and wasn’t allowing fluid to the back brakes. It took us a good few hours to figure this out. You might have seen it in the video.
In between that, Bryan finished adding the engine loom to the front of the car and gave me a hand trying to sort the brakes until he had to go home.
Brake bleeding is the less exciting stuff on the build, and I was a little apprehensive filming an episode on it; regardless, we had fun and almost got a decent brake feel towards the end of the day. Reuben showed his face and decided to get stuck in. It’s frustrating when something like this, which should be such simple, causes so much pain, especially when we had to start undoing piping to find the fault and hope fluid didn’t leak all over the fresh paint.
I’m sure many of you are reading this have been in a similar boat with something on your build. Either way, we get a slight bit on the disc, enough to stop this thing once it ran under its power. I’d be fucked without the help of my mates. Guys like Flip, Duggie or Reuben or Eamon have always popped in to throw an extra set of hands throughout the build. All these things will eventually lead up to a fully functioning Misery machine. I’ll let the rest of the photos do the talking.
