Flips Epic RX7 On The Road
A few days after the maiden voyage of Flips FC on the streets, we decided to do a shoot. This photoset was supposed to be the main photoshoot of the car. Flip hadn’t finished the car’s final form yet, so we decided to wait. Regardless, I hadn’t been shooting as much car photography as I used to, especially of close mates and their epic cars. I’ve taken stuff for granted as I’m always around it in the sheds.
With the winter evenings creeping in, we found an excellent location we hadn’t used before, and I brought out the trusty Canon 5D and took advantage of the setting sun.
Flips FC looks like nothing else. The noise and the rumble, combined with those mega SSR Koenigs, is a sight to behold, brapping down ancient Irish streets. I love this car. It looks like it came straight out of a Japanese magazine.
The red paint pops against a green and somewhat desaturated Irish backdrop. In Ireland, We almost fetishise having cars this low hear, picture-perfect ride height dancing with danger at every corner due to the state of our public roads.
This particular photoshoot was very enjoyable. It made me realise how much I love shooting a good looking car and reminded me I need to do it more going forward. I’m blessed to have friends building incredible vehicles like this, and I need to take advantage of them more.
Inspired by Porsche, Mazda nailed the look on this car, and the millennium trends with big kits and big wheels look just as good twenty years on. Let the rest of these photos speak for themselves with a proper reshoot of this thing, soon accompanied by a good breakdown video.
