Shane is a reserved character. Like I said in the recent video about this car, he keeps to himself. On social media, the odd post here or there about his car pops up, and he’s never actively posting the cool stuff he’s posting in his shed at home.
When I saw his Levin pop up online, it instantly caught my attention. Inspired by the Young Version / Run free collaboration car that famously graced the pages of Hyper Rev magazine and was done pretty much to perfection, I had to reach out and chat.
There’s not much to say about Quentin’s S2K. We already featured this work of art on the website a couple of years ago. Quentin has kept the car more or less the same, adding small changes here and there. It always fascinates me how he keeps to himself. He doesn’t have a group of car friends but somehow manages to keep moving and keep the inspiration going with his build.
Im sure you have seen the video by now; Im playing catch up with the photos. Sean’s car is something I had taken for granted, as it sits outside work day after day. He always dreamed of owning an s2000, and as we said in the video, they are few and far between on Irish roads.
Another thing that you rarely see here also is a Japanese-styled example. More reserved enthusiasts own most, and during the Irish car import boom, very few Japanese tuned examples came to Ireland.
This day was something Gerry had spoken about for years. Over fires in his backyard in Canada, drinking a couple of beers, we would chat about bringing home a Canadian AE86 just because they didn’t exist in Ireland. This country is obsessed with the chassis. Bringing home a bone stock SR5 would instantly make it one of the rarest examples in Ireland, it would stand out for being stock and different. It was always a pipe dream, something we would throw back and forth, but I never thought Gerry would bother. I figured it would have been too much hassle to make it happen.
