Photos Unboxed: Digging For AE86 Parts At Mr X’s
We are very fortunate to have people like MR X in the car community. For years, he has been supplying the AE86 community with much sought after parts. He has been breaking Corollas for parts for well over ten years, and it is a necessary evil, sometimes it’s sad to see cool cars he has killed, but most of the time, every last piece of that car ends helping another.
Last year we took a trip up on a winters day, gathering a few awkward bits and pieces for the Trueno build along with some unnecessary items that caught my eye. He treated us to a look around his private collection of cars, a varied mix of machinery, which caught his attention growing up. Hiace’s, Corollas and Renault 5 Turbos, he’s got a thing for hot hatches and 4E1 gold AE86s.
His collection constantly changes, with funky machines arriving after drunken late-night bid on something unusual, like a front-wheel-drive U11 bluebird SSS or a Starion. He’s an old school guy, he doesn’t use a smartphone, and he likes to deal with people face to face, which means you’ll usually end up walking out of his yard with stuff you never intended to purchase. Anyways, I’ll let the rest of the photos do the talking.
