The Low Brain S13

I have a lot of memories with this car, I passed out and slept in it at Gatebil one year in Sweden, I got the chance to take a passenger spin with Luke Fink on the side of the Alps back in 2013 as he drifted the narrow ski resort hills…

With this car, I got the opportunity to travel all over Europe and document various drift missions throughout 2012-2013, it was a great time, and I will always have a soft spot for this thing.

Martin FFrecnh was driving it at the time, and through him, I was introduced to the Low Brain guys. The car has gone through many many looks over the years and at least one shell. When I got back from Canada in 2016, Julian, who owned it at the time asked to me to shoot some snaps as it was fresh out of the oven.

This car got us to Japan too; our first trip was supposed to be about Luke driving this car at Ebisu but unfortunately, that didn’t work out. It would have been nuts seeing this thing in Japan, Regardless our trip to Japan turned out to be one of the best adventures, only topped by our second trip last year.

I never really put these photos anywhere, they just sat in a folder on a hard drive, so ill chuck em up here for people to enjoy. The Low Brain car managed to cram all the latest drift bits like Wise Fab, or an LS into an S Chassis.

Yet this car always had a bit of style and looked well out on track tipping its hat to the older D1 style. It was the ultimate Frankenstein machine, a cocktail of the all drift flavour thrown into one drink. Somehow it worked. Hotboi wheels, the Odyvia front end, ignorant American ITB’s coming up through the hood, it shouldn’t work, but somehow it did.

I loved this car when it had an SR20, and James Deane thrashed it at every event, I loved it when Martin drove the car for a year and blew every piece of aero off with every run, and I enjoyed Luke giving it a hard time with that Odyvia front end. It has a lot of history amongst the Irish and UK drift scene.

Since shooting these photos the car has been sold on, Julian had the low Brain brand machine for a long, long time, but he decided to move on. Its the end of an era and possibly the start of a new one. Let’s see what comes of this crazy car over the coming years.
