Thanks to everyone who has been following the site over the last few years, crazy to think we are going this long. Thanks to everyone who has been down for sipping some Juice. Good things to come in 2016.
To polish a turd or “The act of trying to make something hopelessly weak and unattractive appear strong and appealing. An impossible process that usually results in a larger, uglier turd’. From the outside looking in, sometimes our way of spending money and spending time may look like a lost cause to the outside world.
Entering Mongolia during the Mongol Rally was an exciting moment for us all. We had survived police corruption in Kazakhstan..
So you are thundering across the desert in a 27 year old 1 litre Starlet you bought for a couple of hundred euro should you be worried? Of course not!
Ive Known Barry and his EK4 for a good while. Barry has owned this car since it came into Ireland just over six years ago as a relatively clean standard enough EK4 SIR. It has been amazing to watch this car develop over the years into its most recent incarnation that we have here today. Just as we were talking about a while ago, this car landed in Ireland and the owner stuck with it over the year. The car was a perfect way for Barry to learn new skills and try different things out over time to achieve his idea of what a civic should be.
David’s 86 is a throwback to an era that was pretty much the “glory days” of car tune and dress up in Japan. You either know or you don’t.
Every day is 86 day… Expect more on this soon…
Define trust. Trust usually resides amongst family members and long term friends, best friends even. It can also be found maybe in professional practice say a doctor, dentist or child minder. It comes from knowing something is good or receiving an excellent recommendation from someone. We went to Rudskogen Raceway in Norway for Gatebil 2015 where I witnessed trust of a totally different kind.
Like most things in life as the years pass certain things tend to change and the car scene is one of them things. Every year certain looks come in and out of fashion and different wheel companies bring out new wheels and everyone decides to change their car’s look for the year ahead. That is just what Emmett the owner of this Polo 6N has done. Now if you have a good memory and can remember all the way back to 2012 you may remember we featured this Polo during the summer of 2012. Although I won’t be surprised if you don’t remember it as it has completely changed over the past three years and the changes made are certainly an improvement.
It’s very seldom that I consider taking a day off from work during the week to attend a drift day at Mondello. Most of the big events there happen on the weekend which is very convenient and other drift days, well they have been a little unchanged in the last while. Now don’t get me wrong, all these practice days are extremely appreciated as it gives budding drivers a chance to hone their skills and get as much time in their car as possible.
This country is incredible at surprising us. I remember the first time I seen this Laurel, probably the first time I had ever seen a Laurel… it was dark down at the infamous port road, ill never forget the angry of this screaming monster sliding sideways up the road. There was just something so enjoyable about such a huge machine going sideways four deep. It just looks badass, the presence was insane.
It’s pretty incredible how much the world of drifting has grown in the last ten years or so. And not just in our little country but throughout the entire world. Drift events are now attracting larger audiences whether it’s the people sitting trackside or the folks lounging at home watching some sort of livestream with way too many advertisements thrown in every twenty seconds. To keep up with pace of the ever expanding drift culture, how do you go about creating a splash in this overflowing pond?

People build cars for many different reasons, some people do it for personal reasons, others do it for bragging rights, other people do it to have something to do with friends, it takes many different humans to piece together this puzzle we call the car world. The owner of this Civic, Leon would fall into the category of personal, something he can look back at and be proud of, even if no one is watching. When he wanted to put together an EK9 he looked to both Japan and the US for inspiration.
