Juicebox : The First meet PT2

It came as quite a surprise to see the amount of cars rolling in all the way till the end, with cars coming from all parts of the country and the general public coming in for a look and not seeing everyone going mental, it must have been somewhat unusual. The cops even rolled in and couldn’t understand why it was day time and over 300 cars were parked up.

There was a nice cross section of enthusiasts, which is good because most of the events or meets are brand specific, like Honda meets or drift days, or 86 days. As the site is there to serve pretty much anything that looks decent all types of machinery made the trip.

Rob brought his dads Mini Midas, a full fibreglass kit car which looked mental!

Sean brought his EP82, we should have much more on this very soon.

Its always nice to see a clean Mivec Colt.

These beauties are getting pretty rare also.

Its no secret that our country is heavily driven by Japanese cars, its crazy to think at times just how many are still hiding and lurking, from younger people starting out by tinkering around with imported models…

To people in their thirties forties and fifties still tinkering around with more expensive chassis, for such a small country you sometimes forget just how much good can pop out of the wood work. The small subcultures that exist inside the car scene, like the die hard UK style 86 heads like Neville, who just cant enough of them superlites and Janspeeds.

And then we have Martin, at the other end of the spectrum, with his fully built R.Y.O. Levin, both the same cars, both built completely different, both owners with completely different mindsets. It always makes me laugh.

For the older generation like Neville, the super lights and Janspeeds and Cibie lights was all that was around back before the days of the internet and Japanese car importing, so I can always understand that its the nostalgic factor. But for the younger generation it makes no sense. I do love his little starlet, I’m glad it doesn’t have super lights any more, I just with those lights were gone from the front hahaha! (Waits for Neville to read this)

Its nice to see the internet influence though, it gives direction to so many, I honestly feel that in this day and age this generation of car enthusiasts have no excuses.  This EK has been heavily influenced by the Kanjo movement in Japan, and it looks pretty awesome.

There was literally so many good Honda’s around, I tried to snap some of the stuff I hadn’t recognised.

The variation was nice though, it was nice to see some Jettas and Passats pull up that weren’t cars with cut springs and Monster stickers, there was real effort put in, on a closer inspection some 3sdm 0.05 wheels and a well executed subtle exterior.

Out of this fuel and tax hike the Irish car culture has ushered a new era of “diesel” Boo machines, where owners will expect a ropey ex sales car from the UK with an S-line kit and fake Borbets is of similar worth to a fully rebuilt Civic or Trueno, a debate that can get a little hairy at times.

I hadn’t seen this Kouki 14 before but it was looking pretty menacing, massive bonus points to the owner for keeping the rear spoiler, most people throw them in the bin.

It was cool to see another E90 series, this one had striking resemblance to Paddy’s original look. Cool nonetheless.

Davy Pickards van is amazing, more on this very soon!

Mul brought his Caddy also sitting on Memoryfab MTechnica Turbos replicas.

The variation was nice to see.

From super charged Mini’s to Stealthy E34s.

Major respect to this owner, for not only having tatsy 15 inch meshes on an s Chassis, but for also having an OEM looking Sileighty, I cant remember the last time I had seen one in the flesh, the lack of nonsense kits just made this work so well.

Jamie didn’t want me getting too close to his EM1, but we will have much more on this very soon.

Two very enjoyable rear ends.

Martins Levin was causing quite a stir with the crowd, a car that has remained hidden away from the interwebz the last few years.

Another shot of Jamie’s Ke, because of that brand new back panel and awesome license plate!

An EK9 with white P1’s, a winning combo meal deal everytime.

Speaking of winning combos… this was very enjoyable. The mirror was a nice touch.

I was shocked to see so many decent looking SXE10’s in attendance.

This one looked pretty seedy in the corner.

Vitz!

The March! Check those 15 inch VIP Vienna schnitts.

You might remember this 86 from a feature we did awhile back.

It goes to show just how effective a drop and a lip + hardtop combo can look on an S2k, seriously respect to the owner for making the commute that low in this country!

All types of goodness going on here.

Nice to see a clean s15 make an appearance.

The ninja was causing commotion once the night came…

This EP82 was pretty interesting, but what was more interesting was that hitch on the back!

Conn made a brief appearance in the 39 Chevy

Tim less goodness… Longchamps on a seedy 86 chassis is always a good look.

Good old Ireland, the country where you drive around the corner and this happens! Yet another nice DC5 that made the trip.

I hadn’t seen this in awhile, its getting pretty rare to see an s13 on Irish roads these days. You dont see a while lot of them with a strawberry face either.

Adrian Walsh brought the M3.

Good to see a well executed MK5, with a play on the colours.

Always cool when someone takes on a less desirable chassis, Ive always liked the Corona (Japanese Carina E) its a much nicer looking car.

Like we said its good to see some variation, this Fiesta had a bit of a rally vibe to it on Corse c2108 Speedline wheels.

Nice to see a road going 2 door, something that is starting to become abit scarce, this one was rocking some a71 celica supra wheels on the back.

The NA Roadtsers are starting to become a pretty popular choice for people to mess around with it seems.

Another shot of Willy’s Trueno

I wish I got a few more shots of the SW20, its always good to see one executed nicely with a decent looking spec.

The same with this CRX with Mugen Aero and MR5 wheels.

OOOHHH

Another shot of Leons EK9, such a clean car, this was its first proper outing since it was finished.

Omer made the trip from Dublin with some friends and a surprising heart.

Another shot of Neville’s KP as he was heading off, looks much better from behind without them lamps at the front! The Compomotive CXR wheels really suit it as opposed to the typical unoriginal super light choice.

Here is one last shot of the S2K as it was leaving attracting mega attention. I have to be honest, I had no idea what exactly was going to show at the meet, especially because it was winter and many people have their cars off of the road, or are away foreign, or whatever.

Somehow it amazed me that over 300 people made the trip down checked out each others stuff and had a decent time, it was a real pleasure to see the kind of people that made the trip, the kind of cars they drove and what they thought of other stuff. It was great to finally see what kind of people have been checking out the site the last few years and hopefully we can keep it going for another time yet.

This meet was a good indication of what we can achieve if we put one together again, it also gave us a serious confindence boost as to what kind of cars are still out there and still being built.

Good job!
