Juicebox : The First Meet PT1
I’m pretty excited that some how I can finally write about a public event we put together. Juicebox has been going for about four years now and well it has been an absolute pleasure being able to capture the car scene and chuck it up here on the website. We had toyed with the idea of putting together something like this for a long time, possibly holding a show, or doing another BBQ, the main fear was that no one would turn up, or if something did it would be a disaster.
Thankfully the meet was a complete success, it brought such a good cross section of budding car enthusiasts, from all over the country, who have intrests in all aspects of the culture, which is exactly what the website is all about. Ireland as a country is not exactly massive but we have such a rich car culture which is often very hidden. Trying to find cars in this country is a much harder battle than running this website.
This meet really gave us hope, when a country crippled by emigration and financial crisis could still manage to have a decent car scene even though the drivers out there are being shafted left right and centre by the government. Once we found out B&Q was going out of business it was a sure sign we had to put this meet together in the abandoned space, it was perfect timing. This meet really showed us that there is people out there, who have awesome cars like this EK9.
With amazing goodies, a country where the average car owner is not one to have his car plastered all over the internet, its a reserved country, one where the car enthusiast has to seek out others. Its pretty interesting in a way, when you have been around this long and yet you still see cars all the time you have never captured or seen before.
Our car culture is rich, with new people and new ideas, and hopefully we can be there to capture it. This AE111 was pretty damn awesome, especially when these are being hunted down for their hearts its nice to know a few will live on like this.
It was great to see some faces we hadn’t had a chance to catch up with in awhile, you might remember this Polo from a feature we did awhile back, still looking as good.
I love Eddies Golf, in a sea of people who have bought MK4 golfs in Ireland, added a couple of stickers and painted the wheels and call it finished, its nice to know some people can build true examples like this.
The meet brought its fare share of cars, this Ek was looking pretty mean.
Such a breath of fresh air to see an Altezza that didn’t have standard wheels painted a bright colour. This SXE10 was wearing a set of very delicious Rays GTP’s This car was one of the best looking SXE10’s we have seen in the country in awhile. Good work.
You don’t see too many CL1’s in black or too much at all for that matter anymore, the Mugen spoiler and RGII style wheels were a nice touch.
Always been a fan of this RPs13, Eamon going with that 90’s style.
Two pretty nice rear ends.
We’ve taken a few shots of this 14 before but another few wont hurt, this 14a fronted black beauty is always a treat on the eyes.
A immaculate virgin DC5, such a nice car right out of the factory.
As equally enjoyable is this Ings kitted example. The Ings kit just looks awesome, and the CRKAI replicas were a nice touch.
Things got a little serious when the Ninja showed up
Always a treat to see a tasty road going 180 sx with FRP goodies and Meisters. A classic combination that never fails.
Another old Waterford car, glad to see its still alive and well sitting on SSR Watanabe RS8’s parked next to a timeless looking EG
Some funky front ends, there was a nice variation.
Rob rolled up in what is definitely a rare sight, a Ralliart Estate, sitting on NT-03 wheels
Paddy McGrath popped in to say hello in his 3 delicious E90 series sitting on style 95’s
You might remember this beauty from a few features back, looking as good as ever.
Jamie’s Ke blinging on polished SSR MK1 wheels sitting next to Leons EK9 blinging on CCW LM20’s
Dayo rocking the TRD goodness with a TRD kitted Celica
This EG was hitting the spot with the BYS Spoiler sitting nicely on Equip 01 reps.
There really isn’t a whole lot on the roads anymore, so it was pretty overwhelming to see so many cars in the same place. Its always a treat to see a BLue DC5.
A yellow DC2 on Desmonds and a 98spec rear end, what’s not to like?
Cars continued to roll in, it was pretty difficult to try and snap everything, meeting faces we hadnt seen for quite some time, it was good to see that everywhere you looked something decent was parked up.
Their was even a fare share of decent bikes in attendance.
Another stunning AE111, timeless and immaculate on TE37’s with an incredibly mind black exterior.
Good to see such a clean E34 sitting on BBS, the German style plate actually looks decent here too.
The variation was awesome! This was too cool to see.
This hard toped MK1 Roadster on polished lip steels was hitting the spot.
Same goes for Davids RPS sitting on type 03 wheels… So good!
You dont see enough four door 34’s around…
Another enjoyable DC5.
I had to take a snap Cian! Always liked this EG with the crow style front bumper, dont worry the lip was off being painted!
Not only was their decent cars, but decent builds too, Leon took his bonnet off to show some of the work Taylor had been doing on his EK9, more on this car soon.
Taylor himself rolled down in his work in progress VIP project. Its amazing what you can get so cheaply these days!
There was quite a nice few Nissans in attendance, Darrens 14 caught our attention, not enough Zenki fronts around anymore.
So good to see this car is still looking this good, the C-west front bumper gets better with age, always been a big fan of this EK4.
Convoys started to roll in as it was getting dark, it was pretty overwhelming to see so many people make the effort at such short notice.
I must say the wrap on this MK4 is pretty sweet, a closer relationship between the wheels and the arches and things will get interesting.
EF’s are always a good thing, especially black ones.
Always a treat to see an SW20, there was a couple that made it down. A car you just don’t see enough of.
I liked the random collection of cars that showed up, it was nice to see some new metal like these BBS
And the enjoyable Jetta that was wearing them… A perfect blend of less is more. Awesome.
I’ve always like this starlet, instead of going with a starlet turbo the owner decided to have a play at the standard Irish starlet, buying some cool parts and some bling meisters, big respect for going this route, and combining both the Irish look with some Japanese goodies. It worked a treat!
You don’t see too many of these, huge potential with this Accord!
Finally someone accepted the challenge, the Z32 is such a badass looking car with the right set of wheels and touch of low, big respect to Colm for making it happen.
I’ve always like Stephens EK, it looks like it should be somewhere in Japan on a track doing some angry lap times on a Sunday afternoon.
We will end part one with Sean’s EP71 turbo, sitting on a rather unusual rare set of FWD offset Longchamps, in two tone sitting next to his EP82. Hope you are enjoying this so far and stay tuned for more coming very soon.
