Japfest 2013
Another year another Japfest, the time when anything can come out of the woodwork to say hello.
This year we kept it brief, by accident really time just sort of slipped away. The one thing I enjoy about this show is it really reminds you what is around the coutnry.
Its nice to see an ould GTR come out of nowhere, just to remind you there is people out there still willing to own one and enjoy it.
Same with this RX7, so many cars made their way to this little island over the last decade its completely overwhelming when you think about it. Just when it looked like everything was more or less broke or sold to Europe you see a few cars that remind you just how much we took!
The country was literally spoon fed Japanese car culture, awesome wheels and nice cars, previously purchased in Japan someone said yes at auction put it in a box and sent it across the seas.
These days your more likely to find someone getting excited over a boo noise than an s15. This show is about the celebration of a car culture we owe a lot too. One that has made many a person happy.
In every way shape or form, we try to mimic what they have done and still continue to do.
Trying to mimic their styles that confuse many of us, the demon camber, the car choices. For such a small country it really is impressive that so much of Japans car culture has trickled across the globe to our villages and cities.
I most certainly spend too much time thinking about that, sometimes we really have to stop, because many of us do take all of it for granted.
No other country in the world has a car culture quite like Japan. The amount of cars and parts to follow is simple amazing.
The fact that for over 15 years not just Ireland but other countries too have been stealing all of their awesome cars and if you log into the auctions there is still enough left to go around.
Their entire car culture is something we have embraced so dearly. Something that has broke many a man both mentally and financially.
Its a car culture that has united so many. How many of you have made friends over the years through the love of cars? More importantly Japanese cars?
That Honda or Toyota feud, its frightening how passionate some people are about a brand, its almost like a favourite team people are proud to wear the colours.
Im sure so mant Japanese people have no idea the impace they have left on so many of us. Each of these cars has had a previous life and many of you have always said it would be amazing to show the original owner where there car is today, and you know what it really would.
The blood sweat and tears that goes into both drifting and the overall love for these machines is amazing. Its enjoyable that we can have a weekend called Japfest, thought the name being somewhat racial!!
The cars, these cars that we love so much, they take people through every emotion.
They push us to the very edge and beyond…
And we always want more. Take this stunning 2door, fresh off of the boat, travelling over 7000 miles it rolls onto new land.
A country that so subtly keeps on giving to us, never asks for anything in return.
Ask Reuben, he will tell you all about it.
