HCR : Night Mover
The 32 skyline has to be one of the nicest pieces of eye candy to ever come from Japan…. so little is needed to create such a timeless look..Those classic tails, one of the most iconic rear ends known to the car scene worldwide…. Much of the mature generation was introduced to it Via car games outside of Japan, and the younger Via the internet and another feeding of car games…. I’ve always had an insane fondness towards the HCR32, its like the misfit little brother of the GTR… On a casual cold night I tracked down one of the nicer local examples for a quick photoshoot….
This example was a 93 white 32 GTS-T, the car had received the entire GTR front end conversion The original GTS Bonnet to be fair isnt the most attractive looking compared to its GTR brothers front end which has been fitted to this HCR. This Night Mover was equipped with the original RB20 with the help of an RB25 turbo, HKS adjustable actuator, turbo elbow and downpipe and a Bee*R catback exhaust system.
Other accesories thrown into the mix would be an exedy stage one clutch and a Cusco 2 way LSD and Splitfire coils. Lurking behind the GTR front bumper is anApexi Front mount. The car is controlled via a Nistune ECU bumping out a casual 327 BHP….. Cars built and toyed with on the other side of the planet, and then bought from a through a computer, put in a steel box and shipped halfway around the world only to be taken apart and assembled al over again…. Some how that’s an awesome part to this subculture…
This white Night Mover sits on Tein coilovers and wears chrome 17 inch Work Meister wheels. Other Handling additions include Nismo front and rear strut braces and an Apex’i front lower strut brace. It gets a little scary to think what the cars of twenty years will be like… already it is evident that cars are built more and more for the consumer market and less for the Joy of driving…
I never quite understood why we get so excited cars, even though the website is primarily Japanese based, most of this attraction stems from the fact myself and friends grew up playing Gran Turismo. Going into the used car section, each and every day finding hundreds of Variants of unusual Japanese cars…then getting the opportunity to see them all in real life years later… Pretty much a dream come true..
You could easily get a headache wondering why Nissan ever even made a GTS-T or a four door version or even a GTR or an s13 or a March Super Turbo!.. on top of companies building these cars, the overly impressive after market parts that have existed for these cars is something to behold in itself… Nothing compares in any other car world on the Planet…This Night mover was fitted with a Sparco deep dish wheel and Timex gauges along with a HKS turbo timer. Its hard to deny the fact that companies world over have given up on the misfit style cars they built in the 80s and 90s.
Cars that have created an entire subculture which exploded into a world wide phenomenon that continues to grow as the new market for these cars is drying up…This Night Mover is ready for some street action, it will look as good as this twenty years from now if its still roaming the streets…. Getting a chance to shoot cars that I used to buy in Gran Turismo is a dream come true… Getting more excited over a GTS-T than the latest Ferrari… call me sad I’m sure there are many out there that will agree and disagree with me…
That last thirty years of Turbo insanity and street drift/drag/culture is someday going to be a thing of the past…. so its nice to soak it up while we still can….
