Car Spotting: Who’s the Rarest of them all?
This Pheonix Yellow 98 Spec DC2 has been around for a few years now, a daily driven car which has been kept more or less standard. Many of you will know just how incredibly rare a Genuine Yellow DC2 is, and more of you will also know just how rare the yellow Recaro’s from factory in this yellow beauty are. The entire car has remained intact since 1999.
Inside is a glowing set of Uber rare Yellow Recaros, the back seats have yellow stitching and the gear gator and steering wheel have had the red stitching replaced with yellow. Its incredible just how rare this DC2 is. You can count how many genuine yellow DC2’s there is in Ireland and on the other hand you can count the same in the UK, how many are still left with the interior is another story. There was a swiss EUDM version of this yellow beast which was a bug eye variant featuring the same yellow interior, the only yellow DC2’s available in all of Europe.
These cars still fetch a high price back in Japan as they are extremly sought after by Honda owners as well as being nototrious across the American Honda forums lnown as the rarest of the lot, that is aside from the Type Rx which also came in Pheonix yellow (this model had all the optional extras from factory from December 99-2000). The yellow with yellow seats looks incredible, its such a change from the typical white with red and was a very bold choice for Honda to go ahead with.
Sadly most of the interiors out of these cars end up in the US where people pay crazy money for a set of yellow Recaro’s and even bigger money for a full interior, the seats are heavily sought after by the Honda scene. Even as standard just something so right about the yellow Integra sitting on standard white 98 spec wheels. Its a car that has been replicated by many, but one you dont come across that often with its infamous Y56 paint job.
It’s unknown just how many of these JDM variants are left in the world, as there was a AUDM and EUDM model also with the same trim I’m sure the same story can be said about those models too. Its a car that gets mixed feelings by the car scene but personally I have always loved this car and was very excited to do a photo shoot before it is sold off from its only owner in Ireland since it came from the magical land we love so much called Japan. Hope you enjoyed the photos of a Truly rare Integra Type R.
