Car spotting : Flips DC5
Its crazy when things change so fast for people. Ireland really is a gigantic bubble if you stay around here for along time. For Flip it was a shock when he decided to go to the land down under. It opened his eyes that there is certainly a shit lot more going on outside our little island. This was the last shoot we did with his dc5 which isint anything crazy or insane.
The DC5 itself is just a car which attracts looks. The wheels here are standard and nothing major is going on on the outside but some wheel spacers, coilovers and a mugen carbon bonnet. Its just the way he put this together and the combination of it being looked after and done right which made this car enjoy the attention.
Flip decided to sell the car which was a hard decision indeed, his heart was set on getting out of here for a while, something anyone would recommend to a friend for sure. I guess you need to leave Ireland at least once to see that there is a bigger picture out there besides the fucking Jedward twins and Crystal Swing.
Flips going to the other side of the world to try and buy a little Honda in a land of Holdens and V8s and big power.Im sure he will find a nice little civic and drive the shit out of it.
This car came in handy for me over the last year to practice taking snaps on so this shoot was cool to do as a little send off. Nothing mind blowing or breathtaking in terms of a car that changed anything. Just one mans passing of a car he loved to anothers who will hopefully enjoy the same thing.
A scary feeling for a person to just change everything and go against the grain. Selling the car, leaving your life and moving to another place is definitely a scary task for anyone. The unknown sucks but only good can come from a new situation. Cars in general are a funny thing if you really think about it. A love for four wheels and some metal and some fabric and rubber.
So many people you can connect with, laugh with, take the piss out of, all through these cars. Over the years its crazy how many different walks of life you come in to contact with just through the automobile. I guess its a cool feeling, in Ireland its a farley social scene. Lots of slagging, lots of winding people up, lots of laughs, lots of whatever.
As hands changed of the car I thought that its crazy, a friend I would have never met if it wasnt for this car. This car, his love for it and the love others had to contribute to the situation. Hopefully shit works out whatever way he wants it to in the land down under, whether he sticks it out there and kisses goodbye to our little island, or if he comes home within a year. Either way I’m sure a car will be under his bum getting him there and I know its probably going to be Vtec…. Right I’m finished shitting on now and I cant believe I managed to come up with text to go with the pictures hahaha.
