The Accord Type Rust

The Honda Accord Type R was such a blast to bring on track; leading up to the event, we thought the car would tear itself apart on track, but to our surprise, it was perfect; the only letdown was how soft the springs were. We fitted a new clutch and the Max Peeding free coilovers, some sticky used tyres and used brake pads, and a seat and off we went. We added that BTCC-style wing, too, which gave the car a budget touring look. Overall, this was a great success. I’ve thrown some photos from the shoot we did with it and pictures from the event at Mondello, organised by the Hiro racing lads. Top craic!

A Feast for the Senses: Celebrating Ireland’s Finest at the Juicebox BBQ

Welcome to the Juicebox BBQ – an annual event that celebrates the best of the Irish car scene. Here is a photoset from the 2021 BBQ, which was a little damp but didn’t stop people from making an effort. It’s incredible to see the kind of machines tucked away in this country. You don’t often see them on the roads, but you experience a complete sensory overload at this event. For those of you who have been curious about the Juicebox BBQ, it’s an invite-only event. We get together with our friends to celebrate all things automotive and appreciate the cars we’ve either created or taken care of over the years. Unfortunately, we can’t make this a public event due to space and resource limitations. However, we’ve put together a gallery of some of the great cars that appeared at this event to appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into these machines.

We post almost everything that came to the BBQ on our website so everyone can get a taste of our vibrant, high-quality lesser-seen car scene Ireland offers. It’s an honour to know such fascinating people from all walks of life who share a passion for cars. The Juicebox BBQ celebrates the friendships we’ve created over the years and the incredible machinery that bring us together. We hope you enjoy this gallery and get a glimpse into the fantastic automotive community that we’re lucky to be a part of.

Getting Nostalgic at the Honda Museum

Getting Nostalgic at the Honda Museum

Utsunomiya is roughly halfway between the greater Tokyo area and Fukushima, so it was an ideal spot to park up for the night. The next day we had some time to kill, so we decided to check out the Honda Museum as it wasn’t too far from where we stayed.

Warm Welcomes at Zero Fighter

We drove for a good hour outside of Osaka to the outskirts of a town called Nara. This is where the legendary Honda shop known as Zero Fighter is based. After our day of mixed greetings, we didn’t know what to expect with what we were greeted to at Osaka JDM earlier in the day, so our expectations were low.

Our Kanjo Experience In Osaka

Our Kanjo Experience In Osaka

After already having the craziest day ever, we were keen to meet up with our new friend we had met online over the coming months leading up to our trip. He had organized a meeting with the local up and coming Honda enthusiasts who frequent the loop in Osaka.

Long live Vtec: Honda Day 2017 PT1

I didn’t want to miss this event. Last year Flip made the drive up and any of the photos I had seen from the day were amazing. The days of seeing Hondas out in the open have quickly disappeared. It seems the bad image the Honda had just over four years ago has vanished.

Out of the Darkness : Japfest 2016 PT2

2016japfest81

As most of us tend to stay in our circles amongst the scene, a lot of cars never really come out of hiding for us to be exposed to here at Juicebox. This little B series is stunning.

Juicebox BBQ: The Squeeze PT2

jcbxbbq-25

A lot of people made it down regardless of situations that sprang up which either on the day or close to it.  Somehow the weather was on our sides which enticed people to make the journey down. I genuinely would not have held the event if there was a monsoon of Irish rain.

Determination

People build cars for many different reasons, some people do it for personal reasons, others do it for bragging rights, other people do it to have something to do with friends, it takes many different humans to piece together this puzzle we call the car world. The owner of this Civic, Leon would fall into the category of personal, something he can look back at and be proud of, even if no one is watching. When he wanted to put together an EK9 he looked to both Japan and the US for inspiration.

Two of the finest lookers in Ireland…

Feature: Freshly Squeezed

The owner of this car over thinks, but this is possibly one of his best qualities, the attention to detail in this car is stunning, and only get better. It takes Barry a long time to think about where a sticker should be placed, what colour, if it will stick out too much, clash with other colours on the car, look right and be in the right place. I love this about Barry and his perception of how a car should look. The amount of thought that goes into each part of the car would scare most people but it’s what has helped him to slowly craft one of the best EK9’s in Ireland.

Random Juice: Timeless

It doesn’t get more timeless then this, a white EK9 sitting on Desmond Regamaster EVOs. Show me this car in another 10 years and regardless of what trends are around then I’m sure it will retain the same appeal.

Meet: Honda Meet @ Midway court

So last sunday brought another Honda meet up in Portlaoise in the carpark at Midway court, the good thing about Midway court is it has a subway and is very central for everyone from all different counties to make the trip. I know your wondering about the picture above also, we managed to get stuck in a High nellie world record on the way up, which was extremely amusing to say the least.I really had no idea there was that many High nellie’s left not to mention useable! I’m sure they bet the record as there really wouldnt be any comparison!
