Modified Live

Recently we attended the first round of the 2014 Irish Drift Championship and the first ‘official’ show of the year, Modified Live. Modified Live is in its second year and we weren’t disappointed in what it had to offer, however there were some little things that we will touch on further down.

We have realized that Mondello Park is one of those places where it’s both raining and fucking cold or the sun is shining and you go home with a sun roasted face. It’s always one or the other, it’s just so Irish, and you can’t not love it.

We were very happy to see some of the fresh Japanese imports that have been arriving recently. There is a huge rise is the number of imports coming again, something I don’t think we expected to see happening anytime soon. However we knew it was going to happen eventually, the number of cars that were being sold to overseas buyers and of course the number of cars being broke for silly reasons was at an all time high. We just hope that this time round people will actually appreciate what they have, we have seen a lot of stupid shit over the years, but maybe Ireland can get it right this time.

One of the cool things about Ireland is you never really know what you’re going to see at an event. Cars just appear out of nowhere and it’s exciting.

Just Jap drift day

jpdy36

As things had been a little quiet since Japfest on this side of the pond for us, we decided to take a spin up to the JustJap drift day to check out what was going on. The drift days are always interesting because you never really know what is going to come up out of the woodwork.

Juicebox : The First meet PT2

jbxm74

It came as quite a surprise to see the amount of cars rolling in all the way till the end, with cars coming from all parts of the country and the general public coming in for a look and not seeing everyone going mental, it must have been somewhat unusual. The cops even rolled in and couldn’t understand why it was day time and over 300 cars were parked up.

Juicebox : The First Meet PT1

I’m pretty excited that some how I can finally write about a public event we put together. Juicebox has been going for about four years now and well it has been an absolute pleasure being able to capture the car scene and chuck it up here on the website. We had toyed with the idea of putting together something like this for a long time, possibly holding a show, or doing another BBQ, the main fear was that no one would turn up, or if something did it would be a disaster.

The Ring PT2

Not really knowing what to do with the rest of our night we drove around for hours trying to see if we could find other parts of the track. If you have never been there, its pretty gigantic.

Automotive Overload – Gatebil PT3

Back to the final installment of Gatebil, the complete madness that funnily enough you start to get used to somehow.

Automotive Overload – Gatebil PT2

The paddock itself is just as impressive as any part of the eventl, the words “that wont work” do not exist in these guys vocabulary!

Automotive overload – Gatebil PT1

Once again we were away, out of Ireland the country which at the time we were leaving was experiencing one of the hottest weeks in over twenty years. This was something none of us were going to care about because finally we were actually leaving the country with a plan we had made over a year before.

Poland

I was asked to come along and make a little video for the guys over at Lowbrain Drifters/ Achilles in a place called Plock in Poland. I had no idea what to expect and right before we caught the boat it was a late night in Ffrenchies layer adding the finishing touches to the LBD S13.

IDC Round One : Mondello

Its a new season for drifting, a new name, new cars and new people. On Juicebox we are going to try and get more people on board, something that was the original plan but with more and more photographers popping up each event we would like to get some people together to help out on the website. This time we have the shutterspeed eye through the lens on the event, things should get interesting. On another note, Brian Egans car is amazing!

Modified Live 2013

We decided to try and make it to the first event on the car calendar this year… round one of the IDC and Modified Live… Mondello’s own idea of a car show that to say the least looked like a bare version of Japfest… Even saying that a few unusual beasts made an appearance that more or less made the trip worth it.

AE86 Track Day 2013

Ah, another AE86 track day. Anyone who follows this blog will know how much we enjoy this chassis. Anytime there is a track day for the 86 movement it always brings a very interesting selection of cars.

Ireland has to have one of the most solid loves for the AE86 in the world. We literally stole thousands of them from Japan. On top of buying these out of Japan we have all the goodies and people around the country manage to build some incredible examples time and time again. No other movement inside the car scene seems to be as good.

Event: Japfest 2012…..

Ah good old Japfest… where to begin, this is the third year we have covered this event on Juicebox. It’s sort of the be all end the entire car scene as a whole at the end of every year. Everything and anything can come out of the woodwork and be on display, many a time I’ve been shocked, left scratching my head wondering where the fuck that did car come from. That feeling is one that I’ve always loved about the Irish car scene, we as a tiny little country was saturated with awesome cars from Japan that you never actually know what’s hiding down a dodgy little back lane, or hiding in some farm somewhere in Kerry…. With the “road car” scene falling down around us… it’s ironic that the drift scene is flourishing, we are spitting out some of the best drivers ever… going up against some of the world’s best.

Event: Fermoy V.A.G. meet

So with an unpredictable Irish summer that we have already been pissed off with, we were very sceptical if it was a good choice to make it out to the V.A.G. meet in Fermoy Co Cork, I’m glad we made a positive choice… If you don’t know this already, or aren’t from this country, in Ireland, the scene is heavily split into a few groups, but it was nice to see the Volkswagen/Audi scene going showcasing some of the best examples this country had to offer all packed inside Cork Marts Car Park, something we just had to cover….
