Neville Brett, a name we should never forget.

nev2

We lost a great human today, someone who’s name echoes amongst the car scene of Ireland, a name that has been spoken in legendary stories of over the years. Neville was a character. It makes me sad that I have to put a post together like this but I want to spread the love and share a few stories that made up just a little bit of the Neville Brett I had the pleasure of knowing. Neville was a true free spirit, which if you had the pleasure of meeting him, you figured out pretty quickly. He was a crazy energetic, genuine lunatic, never afraid to speak his mind, A master behind the wheel of anything he sat into.

Improving on perfection

sjbx5
What drives us to continue looking for perfection with these inanimate objects? What actually justifies a good car? So many of us are heavily drawn towards the unassuming innocence of the AE86, Time and time again, we see one and we just get ridiculously happy or excited, a car that has been done to death but still after 30 years can look as fresh as the day it was unveiled.

Modified Live

Recently we attended the first round of the 2014 Irish Drift Championship and the first ‘official’ show of the year, Modified Live. Modified Live is in its second year and we weren’t disappointed in what it had to offer, however there were some little things that we will touch on further down.

We have realized that Mondello Park is one of those places where it’s both raining and fucking cold or the sun is shining and you go home with a sun roasted face. It’s always one or the other, it’s just so Irish, and you can’t not love it.

We were very happy to see some of the fresh Japanese imports that have been arriving recently. There is a huge rise is the number of imports coming again, something I don’t think we expected to see happening anytime soon. However we knew it was going to happen eventually, the number of cars that were being sold to overseas buyers and of course the number of cars being broke for silly reasons was at an all time high. We just hope that this time round people will actually appreciate what they have, we have seen a lot of stupid shit over the years, but maybe Ireland can get it right this time.

One of the cool things about Ireland is you never really know what you’re going to see at an event. Cars just appear out of nowhere and it’s exciting.

Dismantled Blood

I never really had a chance to say goodbye to this car, a car that for some reason I had such a love for. Its strange when someone finds themselves becoming so attached to a purple piece of metal. On paper it shouldn’t have worked, its colour is ridiculous in real life, its life was sort of a mystery to many. With a little digging we found out that the car was an ex J-blood demo car, by the looks of it, it was the first car to rock those pretty infamous over fenders and wings that the entire world has used over and over.
