Hidden Treasures : Kazama Auto 180sx Demo Car

Another absolute beauty of a car, tucked away alongside the Cruise AE111 we featured last week is this Kazama Auto RPS13. I love these stories, this car has been in hiding for quite some time, bought in the boom for over fifteen grand and then hidden away as the owner was forced to head to the upside down land of work outside of our failing country. This car is pretty amazing in the flesh, and in the right hands, an immaculate white time capsule of Japanese built goodness, unmolested by the usual unaware Irish man.

It was seriously a breath of fresh air to see a body kit which was different to the copies upon copies every Nissan in Ireland is left with today. The front was the unmistakable Kazama Tryval bumper, accompanied by Tryval side skirts and rear bumper. The rear quarter panels are none other than G-Corp in +50mm, a company I can’t remember the last time I had seen something from along with the vented G-corp wings.

The white scheme is something that when done right, can never look wrong. The back end was treated to a set of Kouki back lights and rear garnish, a black Wise square vented carbon bonnet breaks up the front end.

It was a real treat to see this car, literally untouched since it landed, in literally the most unexpected of places. The rain showed no sign of easing off but with the usual Irish day and a severely unexpected backdrop it didn’t matter, walking around the car lurking parts like these craft square mirrors.

I hadn’t been as excited about a car in ages, especially because I had heard stories and finally I was getting to see something special, like many of you it was natural to get excited about certain stickers, small snippets and stories behind the mystery of this car, like many that made it here.

The interior was that classic Japanese specification, pristine Bride seats, a Zeta III driver’s seat while the passenger enjoys a Bride Xax II. The interior looked as good as the day it rolled out of the factory.

For steering a pristine Momo race wheel and through it you can see a Trust Profec B Boost controller. A Cusco Dash dodge cage lagged in blue lurks in the background and other delicious rare treats include a Kazama Auto Shift Knob accompanied by a Kazama Flyoff handbrake setup.

The modifications were so fresh looking; it literally looked like everything was meant to be inside the car. Defi Water Temp, Oil Temp, Oil Press, Boost Meters all perfectly places and staggered in the dash along with a Defi Link controller, along with a brand new Carrozzeria head unit and Razo foot pedals.

The car was in perfect condition, anything I asked about I was instantly amazed at the answer, and everything was either replaced or upgraded to something special. The wheel choice was perfect, a set of 17 inch Gram Light 57 Maximums wrapped in Goodyear Rev Spec rubber accompanied by GP sport wheel spacers. The car had been converted to 5 stud hubs and up front had Z33 Brembo callipers with front and Skyline rear callipers. All-round the car has been gifted Project Mu Rotors with the addition of Project Mu brake pads and Stainless steel brake lines.

The entire HKS catalogue was thrown at this SR, a 2.1L stroker kit, camshafts, metal head gasket, pink injectors, fuel pump, suction pipe kit,  turbo outlet oil filter and relocation kit.

It really doesn’t stop there, the SR has a tasty HKS GT2835 turbo bolted to the side of it along with a HKS manifold, front pipe metal catalyser intercooler and piping kit and a full HKS exhaust system!

The list of pants dampening Japanese parts still doesn’t end there; the SR has been fitted with a Kazama Auto sump guard, oil catch tank, a Yashio factory 3 layer radiator, a Z32 air flow meter and it’s all powered by a Motec ECU Dyno print putting out a safe 400bhp. At first glance it looks like a casual enough engine bay which is what makes it even more interesting.

The Kazama Garage didn’t hold back with the handling upgrades either, the Nissan was fitted with HKS hyper max coilovers with camber adjustable pillow uppers. A list of Kazama goodies from the likes of front pillow tensions rods, heavy duty tie rods, super tie rod ends, tension support bar, rear upper arms, toe control arms traction rod and auto rigid collar, for the rear sub frame. This beauty even has a carbon prop shaft.

The car is literally oozing goodness and it was a little much to process on a crappy Sunday in the middle of nowhere. Many of you after reading this will fall in love with this car as much as I did or may have already, it just looked so right correct. It really was nice to see something so kitted out with those “JDM” parts many of us strive to acquire, another amazing chunk of metal just hidden away behind ditches and fields bumpy back roads and corrugated metal. It reinforces the reason why Ireland is a pretty enjoyable place to be interested in cars, especially Japanese ones.

You really never know what you might see… I always have to laugh when we hear stories like this and they are true. Hope you enjoyed this stunner of an s-chassis as much as we did, and hopefully it avoids the evil world of being broke or sold to the wrong hands where it may be ultimately ruined by the unaware lemons of our car scene.
