Event Japfest PT2

What I love about Japfest is the amount of racing and activities that are on throughout the day as well as the show thats inside the paddock. It can be a somewhat overhwleming task to cover everything as you have time attack, Prodrift, drag racing and track time on all at the same time. There’s something for everyone.

From starlets….

To erm….. starlets I guess. You know what we mean!

Bryan was in grip mode regardless of how  moist track was.

Always like seeing this purple advaned SW20. These cars have incredible potential.

Is that a look of disgust?

Even standard with a set of wheels you just cant loose.

Ireland meets Dub..

This easily was the most entertaining car at the show, every time you look at it you cant help but smile. Cars just dont look as humble anymore and it was insane how clean this little beast was.

Always like seeing this car, the whole Felt scene has crept in and has happened so quickly its pretty damn scary. Its nice to see someone who stepped to the side.

Dariusz brought his insanley clean Ps13. I had to come back for a third and fourth look. The clean and simple exterior is such a contrast  the usual styling on a 13.

Behold the awesome charmant. Getting even rarer these days. Its nice to see someone who has love for these unusual beasts.

Motorfix! Hopefullytheres another charmant with the same style as those boysback at the house.

A combination that will never ever fail. Honda + TE37’s = win. Bronze + Blue + Black = perfect win.

Dec’s 32 is such a tough looking car.

I was surprised by the lack of chasers at the show, some of the expected ones didn’t make an appearance, probably due to the sky rocketing petrol prices. Props to this one for showing the face. Gotta love these cars, especially one sitting this low.

Im always surprised at how little the ej1 is played with in Ireland. The coupe has so much potential as this one is showing.

Probably the most awesome looking starlet in the country. Hayshis and purple with fender mirros and the right amount of camber equals a very nice recipe for a KP61

You cant polish a turd.

The veiside skirts really are an insane design. 90’s design at its finest.

For such a small country we really do have an awesome following of the AE86 chassis. Pretty much every example that was at the show was worth photographing.

As you can see from the pictures….. There was subtle to extreme lookers. This orange coupe always stands out.

How about the total opposite a mere set of  Techno Racings with a pink center clashing against a panda colourway?

The classic Panda and Hayshi streets.

Yes please

Mother of god Dave from Garage Hachi’s 2 door trueno is simply amazing. The te37v’s in real life are probably one of the nicest wheels to fit under an 86’s arches. I could look at this fresh piece of meat for hours.

Kev from Garage hachi was also out with his Levin. Both cars are simply stunning in real life.

Deep mesh. mmmmmm

Proof that the TE37 wheel is probably the best thing to ever happen to car wheels! No matter what era, you cant loose.

One of the nicest truenos in the country.

The Juicebox babe was posing on its new car, what a hottie

Clockos TE71 is absoloutly incredible looking. Both parked….

And beating down the straight. What a car.

Black with meshes and wide arches was different, but as equally as cool. Wouldn’t be so sure about the big plate.

Had enough 86’s yet? I didnt think so!

Such a clean engine bay.

With an equally as clean car!

The replica wheel game means you can see your favourite wheel style on the most unlikely vehicles. I never though I would see a set of Regamasters sitting under an Opel Combo!

Its that double edge sword theory, people who are broke or want something to hit off of stuff will buy replicas, and there are people who cant stand the sight of them. In a way its a shame that companies like rota make almost exact copies of some the best wheels out there, down to the fact you will see a set of longhcamps on a corsa in the next year or so. At the same time, the replicas look so good that people can build their dream look and pull it off with a set of rota GT3’s because the real version is next to impossible to find. Either way this whole wheel replica thing has the entire car scene ripped down the middle….

The cheaper wheel does make cars look fantas, this Integra works a set of XXR’s very well. Replica wheels are always going to look good when done right.

This 180 gets better evertime I look at it. What a mean looking car.

Cosworth spoiler you might say on a 323…….

Such a cool colour combo, it never fails.

“I bet there’s at least a 100 grand under the hood of that car”

This DC2 was mugen-tastic. Mugen in the 90’s had some real hit and misses. This thing was oozing with rare parts. From the Lesser loved Mugen RG wheels to the Stamped front bumper and dry carbon bonnet. There is incredible potential here indeed.

Especially when your rolling with a genuine Mugen gen 2 DC2 spoiler. Now thats a rare sight in this country.

Marcin is the only person doing VIP in this country at the moment. His bagged IS is simply stunning. Time to step it up people!

Ferio with a pinch of euro?

The new GTR is such a buff looking car compared to the other models.

Wow these back wheels were chunky, possibly a wide arch kit for the rear?

Its amazing just how much action is going on in one single day. Spot the charged ae101!

The JZX81 is too badass looking. I would be uneasy drifitng this beast in case I hit the quarter panel. Im sure it would be quite the pain sourcing stuff for one of these.

I knew you wouldnt be angry if we put up just another AE86. Adrians car is the easily one of the meanest looking examples ever.

Finally people are starting to see the potential in e30’s. This one above is proving just how easy it is to make them look amazing.

Spot the hangover

A genuine TRD supra anyone?

It looks like nobody was impressed with Ben’s skills, he just couldnt resist the temptation listening the the heavy choons from the Audi.

Tommy’s old Variant was looking as good as ever.

Paul Cheshire’s g35 isint your typical drift car. Increible amounts of money have been put into this car. It was nice to get a close up on the day.

Phil Morrison has one of the nicest drift liveried cars out there.

This 32 looked awesome, these cars look fantastic with a roof spoiler. This one was rocking both a roof and boot spoiler, but someone had accidently sprayed chucky onto the bonnet, ame for such a clean car.

A very intimidating looking 33!

BBS on a Jetta. Whats not to like?

This Impreza is awesome, massive credit has to be given to this owner for going against the usual styling done to these cars in a country which is heavily influenced by rallying.

A Japanese Type R wearing gold Gram light 57c was a break from the norm.

You realise just how cool sileightys are when you see a clean example like the one above.

It has to be said that a standard 180sx type x is one of the nicest cars to ever come out of Japan.

Yes, a second look at this EG wont hurt!

Standard! This colourway is too cool. A better set of wheels and this standard looker would be even cooler.

Youve just gotta love the forester!

Fun for all the family!

Darrens’s 86 was getting its well deserved attention all day in the EA stand.

Following on our discussion earlier about wheels, when you get the real thing, nothing compares. I love this car for two reasons, one the fact that Brendan managed to get the biggest set of Meisters he could find and make them work on the car, and 2 is the fact the car was built in Ireland and pushes the standard on what’s possible in this country. All day this car was grabbing peoples attention and why shouldnt it?

Martin fFrench at wexican motorsport swapped the Beams engine for a more cheaper more tunable SR20.

The huge 13j back wheels are covered with Wexican Motorsport arches and the car really does look like a modern vision of a shakotan/bozo style Japanese Toyota. What a superb car.

Be sure to check back for more coverage coming real soon.
