Prodrift Round 2: Punchestown 2010 Pt 2

I’m glad the paddock section went down well. I figured that there were too many snaps but I guess you can never have too much. This year the course had been made shorter due to some new buildings but this certainly didn’t spoil the entertainment.

Prodrift Round 2: Punchestown 2010 Pt 1

There was a shit load going on off track at Punchestown. I got a little snap happy with some of the stuff which was off track so I decided to divide the track action and paddock stuff into two separate sections. I was truly suprised at the level some of the cars are at in Ireland after Punchestown. There was a really good selection of Japanese goodness in the Paddock and a few other things.

I remember seeing this a long time ago, thought it would be funny to post again because the whole video is pointless.

Hmm

FT-86 postponed.

According to Japan’s “Best Car magazine”, the FT86’s release date is set to be postponed a further 2 years with the goal posts being shifted from a 2011 release date to 2013.

Toyota have given two reasons for this reported delay. One is that the concept is being redesigned again as Toyota has stressed that the ft-86 we have all seen was only a concept.

The second reason is about the economy slowing down and that the sports car market will take longer to recover. Either way they really need to get this car together. I think we are curious to see the redesign. Or even the finished car on the streets. Maybe they will go back to the roots like the Americans with the Challenger and the Camaro. If so they will absolutely win with the car in so many ways. Who knows whats going on over in Toyota. I guess we will just have to wait and see….

What the Fuck Wednesday : The Clonmel Saxo.

The Tullow drag strip.

So I got a call about this Legal drag strip type thing that was going down in Tullow just outside of Carlow. I was instantly curious to see what exactly or how this could work. We jumped in the van and Magoo and Ann drove ahead in the Primera. It was some laugh finding the place but eventually we rang the guys from Caseys Yard and they came down in the trusty ex Eircom Transit at top speed and they lead the way. I was still wondering how on earth you could have a drag strip around the country side. We were on back roads laughing and wondering if the roads would just be closed off or what. Eventually I gave up guessing of ways in which they could have a drag track in the middle of nowhere and decided to wait till we got a look. As we were tearing along a nice country road the road suddenly turned into wide open concrete. It was crazy, no fences on the fields and a couple of houses at the start. Then the road opened into a massive field with this little concrete road in between. We then came to a digger which was blocking the road. Everything felt very mad max about the situation but it was cool. They were looking for a fiver to go up and check it out so I was down for supporting. The digger bucket lifted which was basically there as a gate and we headed on up to the sheds in the distance. It really looked like something from the America. I’m easily amused I guess.
